Purpose: To efficiently and effectively manage all funds of the Board in order to achieve its goals and objectives and to be a proactive advisor of the Board on all financial management matters
Key Responsibilities
* To develop, formulate and oversee implementation of the financial policies and systems of the Board and to continuously update financial management policies and control systems to ensure safety of the Board's finances and financial records.
* Provide leadership in implementation of the Board Strategic Plan and achievement of performance targets
* Co-ordinates development and implementation of the Annual Budget and cost control measures.
* To co-ordinate, supervise, control and evaluate the financial and accounting activities within the department.
* Ensuring timely reconciliation of accounts as well as preparing timely and accurate financial statements and management reports reflecting the Board's performance, in line with the statutory and Public Sector requirements as well as International Financial Reporting Standards
* To advice the Board on matters relating to finance and investment as required.
* Compiles funding proposals and business cases for approval
* Facilitate the auditing of the Board's accounts by auditors appointed for that purpose and implement recommendations of the auditors.
Relationship with other jobs
* Reports to the Managing Director
Requirements for the Job
* Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting/Finance option) or Bsc. Finance/.
* A Masters Degree in a relevant field is an advantage.
* Certified Public Accountant, CPA (K) and member of a relevant professional body.
Experience
* Desired experience of 8 years in development and implementation of financial systems in a senior management position and busy environment.
