The organization trains and mentors journalists and news managers, helps produce innovative radio and television news programming and provides technical assistance to local journalists in countries all around the world.

For over 25 years, it has worked in 70 countries and currently has Offices in 23 countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, North America and the Middle East.

Internews works towards building media capacity for effective and accurate reporting in issues such as democracy, governance and transparency, health, environment, humanitarian media and ICT.

It trains over 9000 media professionals each year and since inception has worked with 4,300 radio, television and print publications around the world.

Position Description

Internews Network is immediately seeking a full-time Network Administrator in the Nairobi location. This qualified individual'will manage the computer network and provide general technical support to an office of 30 staff and a 25 person computer lab.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience working in a fast paced environment providing support and problem solving for a wide variety of technical issues.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Maintain and administer LAN
* Maintain and administrator Windows 2003/2008 server environment
* Support and maintain all laptop and desktops
* Troubleshoot general hardware and software issues on all computers.
* Maintain and manage server and user back-ups
* Monitor Anti-virus effectiveness to keep all computers clean
* Install and Configure a wide variety of software on all machines
* Configure email clients for a variety of mail protocols including MSES, POP, etc.
* Troubleshoot issues with other office equipment including printers, copiers, phones, etc.
* Stay abreast of current technology trends
* Other technical assistance duties as assigned

Qualifications:

* A Diploma in Network Administration from an accredited institution
* MCSA or MCSE or equivalent
* 3+ years relevant experience
* Proficiency with Microsoft environments including: MS server 2003/2008, Windows XP/Vista, Office 2003/2008
* Familiarity with networked anti-virus and back-up software (example Symantec Back-up Exec).
* Familiarity with web technologies including ability to update web content.
* Personal and professional attributes:
* Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills
* Good time management and organizational skills
* Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical staff
* Team player
* Attention to detail
